Dental Plans
The Forbes Insurance Agency offers
Dental Insurance and Dental Discount Plans with options to cover just one individual or up to a large group of
individuals
According to the American Dental Hygienist’s Association, every $1
spent on prevention in oral health care saves $8 to $50 on restorative and emergency procedures. Dental insurance
is the second most requested benefit from individuals, families and employees and it is easy and affordable. Dental
insurance not only saves money by encouraging preventive care, but is also an investment in employee health or in
your own health and productivity since dental woes often impact overall health.
Basic Information on Dental Insurance
Dental Services are categorized by 3 types of care.
Type 1 Care: Preventive services are often covered at 100% with no
waiting period. Preventive services are the oral exam, bite wing x-ray and teeth cleaning, and fluoride treatments
for children.
Type 2 Care: Basic services generally feature a small deductible
and the services rendered, such as full-mouth x-rays, fillings and simple extractions feature % co-pay.
Type 3 Care: Major services generally are endodontic (root canal), periodontal work, crowns, inlays, bridgework and the more
restorative procedures. These services are also on a copay % basis.
Dental Insurance can easily be added to your medical plan or can
be sold as a stand-alone Dental Plan. Often, vision discount plans are packaged with dental plans.
If you go to the dentist or eye doctor for regular checkups, it's a good idea to have
a dental and/or vision plan. With coverage for basic and preventive care, you'll save on most procedures and cut
down on your out-of-pocket costs.
Dental Discount Plans
Vision and Dental discount plans are not insurance plans, but
discounts on the cost of services that have been negotiated by the provider. In some cases the dental or vision
discounts for services can be from 15-45%. These discount plans cost less than dental insurance and offer the
consumer some savings. The numerous insurance providers that we represent often have a Dental Rider that can be
added to your insurance quote as part of your health insurance plan and offer better benefits to you and your
family as part of your overall health coverage.
Also, our Agency goes one step further and shops the Dental
Insurance feature with stand alone dental carriers. There are numerous occasions whereby the monthly premiums are
lower with a stand-alone dental plan…and after all, isn’t it better to keep more of your money in your pocket? We
have found that a stand-alone dental plan has advantages.
The fact is, if and when you either drop or change your health
insurance policy, the dental rider attached to the health policy is also dropped. But with a stand-alone policy,
the dental feature continues in force….under a distinct and separate policy, and the benefit of regular maintenance
with a dentist is not disrupted.
We can help clarify any questions you may have as you decide
on dental or vision coverage for you and your family.
