With expertise and diligence, and without any cost to you, we will explain and discuss everything with you, and help you custom fit your insurance to your particular needs.

Which individual health insurance plan is a fit for you? Which is most affordable? Which gives you the coverage you need?

The main thing to remember is that the flexibility of a health insurance plan will increase as the monthly premium cost for the health plan increases. As you cut costs, you tend to cut flexibility and coverage.

Why Major Medical is so Important for Asset Protection

In Major Medical Insurance, the insured is responsible for paying a deductible before insurance pays benefits. Then, there is an additional co-insurance feature based on a % of additional expense (customarily 100%, 90%, 80%, 70% and in some cases 50%).

The consumers first meets their deductible then pays an additional co-insurance % selected, then the insurance provider pays the balance. Insurance companies pay 50%, 70%, 80% or 90% of the medical bills and the insured would be responsible for the remaining 10%, 20% or 30%.

In the 100% co-insurance scenario the consumer only has to meet their deductible and then the insurance provider pays the balance at 100%. (Obviously the 100% co-insurance is a better choice but does raise the monthly premium…once again the Forbes Insurance Agency will design a plan for you based on your health needs and budget.

With the PPO Plan (Preferred Provider Organization) the insured can choose to go to any doctor or hospital to receive services, pay the provider directly, and then be reimbursed 70%, 80% or 90% of the bill by the insurance company. When people speak about “traditional health insurance,” they are referring to Major Medical Health Insurance.

The Forbes Insurance Agency of South Carolina is affiliated with the National Brokers Network and we are committed to providing the very best service and information to our clients regarding their health insurance. We focus on a COMPLETE SOLUTIONS PLAN. Given the advances in today’s medical profession, if you suffer from a Critical Illness (Heart, Diabetes, Cancer etc), or Disability, you more than likely will recover by undergoing the best medical treatments and therapy. The average recovery time from a Critical Illness is 7 ½ months. Having Health Insurance from an “A” rated provider is mandatory. However, at the Forbes Insurance Agency and the National Brokers Network we make sure that ALL your assets are covered.

In case of an extended recovery from a critical illness or accident.

Most American's don’t have enough savings to survive being out of work for 7 ½ months during the recuperation period. In fact over 50% of all bankruptcies in the United States are the result of people who did not have the savings to pay their living expenses during an extended illness, and the majority of these people had health insurance.

Not having an income during these times is often neglected and as a result the client survives the Critical Illness but Dies Financially. We present to all our clients a COMPLETE SOLUTIONS PLAN covering Health Insurance, Critical Illness and Disability, and provide for Accident coverage at a price that often times are cheaper than a regular health insurance plan with a low deductible

Just having your medical bills paid still leaves your assets at risk! We can make sure you’re completely covered and “SAVE” you money at the same time. That’s why people come to us from all over the United States.

We provide greater protection for less money!

Why We Focus on PPO Health Plans

The Forbes Insurance Agency focuses primarily on PPO Plans (Preferred Provider Organization) in offering Major Medical Coverage. These plans offer the greatest flexibility and the most benefits of any type of policies.

A PPO allows you to see any doctor you choose for your health care. Yet, it does provide a network of physicians in which co-payments and deductibles will be less costly. By staying in network, you will benefit from some savings. Network physicians determine reasonable charges; therefore, if an out-of-network physician charges more for services, the insurance company will still pay only for the in-network charges, thus leaving you with the financial obligation to pay the difference. The insured will often pay higher fees for out-of-network services.

What type of Plan is Best for You?

Which individual health insurance plan is a fit for you? Which is most affordable? Which gives you the coverage you need? The main thing to remember is that the flexibility increases as the monthly premium cost for the health plan increases. As you cut costs, you tend to cut flexibility.

Now our job as a South Carolina Health Insurance agent, is to find a plan that fits within your budget. When choosing a health plan, there are several important questions that need to be addressed, and your agent can assist you in fine-tuning the correct plan for you.

  • Does the plan cover you for the specific doctor or hospital that you would like to use?
  • Does the plan cover the health services that you need?
  • Does the plan cover the health-care providers you're currently using?
  • If you travel, how will each plan handle care if you or a family member is away from home?
  • What are each plan’s monthly premium, deductible and coinsurance and would they fit within your budget?
  • Are there other fees, such as co-payments and out-of-network fees?
  • Is there a maximum amount each plan will pay over a year or lifetime?
  • What types of benefits are specific to this plan?
  • Does the plan offer family, as well as individual coverage?
  • Does the plan cover pre-existing conditions? If so, is there a waiting period? (The average waiting period is three months to one year.)
  • Does the insurance company have a good reputation in the industry and a positive rating from a major ratings organization? (Contact your state's department of insurance for more information.)

The Forbes Insurance Agency is here to help you!  Our job is to find a plan that both fits within your budget and meets your medical needs. In Charleston Call : 843-297-8162, or
